Cultural and educational TV in French and German “arte”

Arte_Logo_2011.svg

For those of you who would like to improve or practice their hearing comprehension in French or German, but who do not like the usual low-quality programs of mainstream television and who prefer to watch educational programs and documentaries about culture, history, politics, geography, sciences and topics of current interest and good movies, the French-German cultural TV station “arte” might be interesting for you. All their programs are translated into both languages and can be watched via the internet (you can choose the language on-screen after starting a program).

I love arte as well, but from what I know you can’t just watch the documentaries directly on the website, you’d have to be in France or Germany right? …it only worked when I was living in Paris…full versions of some of their documentaries are on Youtube though…

yes, that may be true, it depends on where you live or what country the IP address of the computer you are using uses as location. Friends from EU countries other than France or Germany told me the links would work for most of them, whereas people from outside the EU usually have to hide their IP address by using a VPN-service based in a different country (EU) in order to be able to watch the programs…(I’m not good with computers and can only repeat what others have told me about this!)
